Jermaine Colon Obituary (February 8, 1980 - April 30, 2024)
Today, Tuesday, April 30, 2024, my son went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. No one knows better than I how much he suffered. I was with him every day, he was tired of being sick, but he always had a smile for me or he say something to make me smile, he was the love of my life, I will miss him so.
He went to Daroff and Blankenburg Elementary School, then Beeber Middle School and graduated from Overbrook High School. After high school, he attended Lincoln University, but eventually he changed to Cheyney University, where he received his Bachelors in Music Education. Many did not know Jermaine was a great opera singer.
Jermaine was a very prominent figure in the community. He taught financial literacy at different churches, as well as, volunteering his time.
Jermaine was ordained as a minister on the fourteenth day of February 2021.
Jermaine was preceded in death by his grandmother, Corrine J. Sawyer; his great-great-grandmother, Mrs. Willie Lucille Johnson; his uncles, Robert Lee Johnson, Willie Sawyer Jr., George Francis Sawyer, Lonnie Eddie Sawyer and Nathaniel Sawyer.
Jermaine was a proud and dedicated member of the Iota Phi Theta Fraternity.
Jermaine loved his two sons, Lavon and Jalen, more than life itself. They were his world.
Jermaine was the best son a mother could have. He was loving, kind, respectful and generous. He was a God fearing man. He loved his mother dearly.
He leaves to mourn: his mother, Rosa-Colon-Simpson; two sons, Lavon and Jalen Colon; his ex-wife, Keia Urrutia; cousins, Beverly Perry, Tanya Sawyer, Maryanne Mabery, Ramona Sawyer, Annette Jacobs and Kia Sawyer; and a host of other family members and close friends.
Jermaine your journey has ended here.
Your time has come to rest
Although we’re heartbroken a
And feel the pain
We know, God knows best.
